Project Title - Princess Diana memorial playground

Brief - Our brief was to install an interactive children's play area based on the theme of Peter Pan and covering 500 square metres.

Solution - We worked with the artist, Mel Chantrey, of the Fountain Workshop. He developed a theme of a mermaid fountain cascading over rocks and boulders ending up at the mouth of a crocodile. Real rocks and boulders were placed on a prepared sub-base, then integrally coloured fibre re-enforced concrete was carved in to shape to create meandering "channels". The surface was shot blast to give an anti-slip finish but also to expose the shells and other aggregates which had been seeded in to the surface. To enhance the Peter Pan theme we imprinted wood planks, cutlasses and bones around the mouth of the crocodile.

This water feature is totally interactive with water jets, drain plugs, streams and is anti-slip. Not to be confused with the other water feature ....
